Chapter 43
Coming out of her inner palace, Tu Tu jumped on her shoulder with a look of excitement. The little white rabbit pointed to the horizon with its furry paws, while touching Zhu Lin’s smooth face excitedly.
“Master, master! There! The Heavenly Dao is there!”
Zhu Lin picked up the excited rabbit and hugged it with her left arm. “Calm down. Lead the way.”
“Alright!”
Holding the sword in her right hand, she activated the immortal arts light step technique as she jumped down from the high wall. Following Tu Tu’s direction, she stepped on the zombie’s head and leaped forward. When the zombies smelled her breath, the soles of her feet had left their heads.
Tu Tu sniffed the air and pointed forward with her fluffy paw. “There! The Heavenly Dao is hiding among the zombies.”
Zhu Lin observed the sea of zombies around her and found an open place. There are no zombies within ten meters, but a handsome man standing there instead. His clothes were clean, but there was no expression on his face. Wearing a shirt and trousers, he looks like a wealthy young master.
“Is he the Heavenly Dao?”
Not sure, Tu Tu sniffed the air again. “I’m not sure, the breath of heaven indeed came from him.”
“Alright.”
Stepping on the head of the nearest zombie, she jumped and landed lightly on the ground. The man stood five meters away from her, looking at her with red pupils. Zhu Lin raised her eyes to look at him, and was immediately taken aback.
The breath of heaven really emanated from him. She observed him carefully and found that he also had the energy of the Devil race in his body. Just when she was busy observing him, the man opened his red lips.
“Who are you? Have we met before?”
As soon as she heard his voice, countless images appeared and disappeared in her mind like a tsunami.
‘Never forget me…’
“Uh….”
“Master! Are you okay?!”
Tu Tu looked at her worriedly, then quickly placed her paw on her chest, and cast her healing power. The rabbit was surprised when her energy entered her owner’s body. Her energy suddenly went berserk, damaging her newly recovered body.
“Master! What’s wrong with you?!”
Using the sword as her support, she stabilized her body as she rubbed the center of her eyebrows with a pale face. The man stood there and looked at her intently. Even in the middle of the zombie tide, no zombie dared to approach the man.
Zhu Lin drawed divine energy from her inner palace and forcibly suppressed the chaotic energy in her body. After a few seconds, her complexion improved a lot and she looked up at the man.
Straightening up, she pointed her sword at the man. “Who are you?”
The man didn’t respond, just stared at her. Minutes passed as they stared at each other amidst zombie growls and human screams. Just when Zhu Lin thought they would go on like this forever, the man moved.
He took a step forward and approached her slowly. When he was a step away from her, he stopped and looked down into her eyes. When the red pupils met her clear eyes, another surge of memories came and went in her mind, as another burst of severe pain hit her head.
“Uh…” Unable to stand steadily, she swayed.
When Tu Tu was about to heal her again, the man picked up the rabbit. His deep voice came as he stared at the small white rabbit. “Did I know you?”
Tu Tu stared straight at his red pupils, and the more she looked at him, the wider the rabbit’s eyes became. She knew him! Tu Tu’s paws trembled as they touched his face.
“Master…?” Tu Tu asked hesitantly.
“Master? Me?” He asked the rabbit.
“Yes. You are my master!” This time, Tu Tu was sure.
He looked at the excited little white rabbit, and held the rabbit in his arms like how Zhu Lin was holding Tu Tu. After stroking the soft fur of the rabbit for a while, he looked at Zhu Lin again.
“… Did I know you?” When he asked her, his tone was not sure.
After the images in her mind disappeared, Zhu Lin came back to her senses, and saw her rabbit obediently lying on his arm.
“I don’t know you. Who are you?” Her pale face was calm when she asked him.
“Long Shengyu.”
“Why do you have the breath of heaven and the energy of the Devil clan on your body?”
He didn’t answer her question, but looked in the direction of the base. He glanced at her after a while and asked, “Are you staying there?”
“Yes.”
“I see.”
As soon as he raised his hand, the zombies suddenly stopped moving, standing there like a statue. Zhu Lin watched everything that happened calmly, but became more vigilant. He put down his hand and continued to stroke Tu Tu’s fur.
“Give me back my rabbit.”
“Your rabbit?” He raised his eyebrows, looking down at the contented rabbit in his arms.
When he spoke again, his voice softened. “This is my heart.”
Without waiting for Zhu Lin to refute, he raised his hand to stroke her lips gently, and disappeared with Tu Tu. Blinking her eyes in surprise, she realized that her rabbit had been abducted, and her tofu had also been eaten by him.
“This… He….”
Holding her sword tightly, she blushed and raised her head, shouting angrily. “Rogue! Give me back my rabbit!”
When Huo Ming found her, he saw her shout angrily for the first time since he met her. Seeing her flushed face, he obediently stood behind her without speaking.
In a dimly lit room, a man sits on a chair, which is the only piece of furniture in the room. He leaned his head back on the chair and closed his eyes. Sunlight penetrates into the darkness of the room through the cracks of the window, trying to brighten the dark mood. When the sun shines on his body, he seems to be shrouded in golden light.
On his lap lay a small white rabbit the size of a palm. In the silent room, only the soft breathing of the rabbit remained. In that dark room, time seemed to stop flowing until the rabbit moved. The man slowly opened his eyes, stroking the soft fur of the rabbit with his hands. Without looking at the rabbit, his lips moved, and his deep voice echoed in the silent room.
“Awake?”
