The Apocalypse Merchant – 19

Chapter 19

Murong Jiao left the food stall and walked along the night market. The plaza is large and can accommodate many people at the same time. After thirty minutes of browsing, she only visited a quarter of the stalls in the night market. Sitting on the stairs used as a public chair, she sorted out the information she got so far.

First, there are two things that can be used as currency here. One is supplies, and the other is contribution points. Contribution points can be obtained by either working as a civil servant at the base, accepting tasks in the mission hall, or exchanging them with supplies.

In the first way, the base only recruits talents and not ordinary people. For ordinary people, they can only do construction work, and do some rough work such as building walls and roads. The second way, only those who are strong and brave enough dare to go to the mission hall to pick up the mission. As for the last method, no one is willing to exchange contributions using supplies unless absolutely necessary.

After sorting out the information, she pondered for a moment before deciding on the price of the dishes. Since she doesn’t want to burn herself out with a small income business, she will mark up the price of her food. She will sell it as a premium item. Given how fresh and rare her ingredient is, she’s confident it will be sold.

Making up her mind, she stood up from the stairs. As soon as she raised her head, she saw a familiar face. That was the soldier she had bumped into yesterday in the mall. She observed for a while, and saw that he was negotiating fiercely with the stall owner not far away.

Out of curiosity, she approached him. Standing behind him, she looked at the object of their fierce negotiation. This is a cigarette. She stood there listening with interest to their conversation.

“Boss, lower the price again, okay. It’s too expensive.” The soldier said in a pleading tone.

The stall owner folded his arms and closed his eyes, unwilling to see his pitiful face. He said firmly, “It can’t be lowered anymore. Ten contribution points. No more and no less. Take it or leave it. “

He looked at the cigarette on the cloth with regret in his eyes, and asked the stall owner again. “You really can’t lower it more?”

The stall owner shook his head and answered him firmly. “Can’t be any lower than ten contribution points.”

Getting the stall owner’s final answer, he sighed and said, “Okay then. Thank you, boss.”

He took one last look at the cigarette, sighed deeply again, and stood up. Turning around and seeing Murong Jiao standing there, he almost cursed out loud.

“My god!”

She was also startled by his shouting and almost fell to the ground. “Ah!”

“Careful!” He responded fast, grabbed her arm and stabilized her body.

“Huff…”

“Hah..”

The two breathed a sigh of relief at the same time, and then looked at each other. The soldier let go of her arm, coughed and asked, “What are you doing sneakily behind me?”

Murong Jiao scratched her chin, ashamed to scare him like this. With an apologetic smile, she said, “I’m sorry. I just want to watch the negotiation.”

He looked at the petite young woman in front of him and said, “It’s okay. Just don’t do it again in the future. You might accidentally kill someone like that.”

Grimacing, she nodded. “All right.”

Seeing that she was fine, he nodded to her, turned around and left. Before he could take a few steps, she hurriedly said, “Wait a minute.”

He turned to look at her, raising his eyebrows and waiting. With a light cough, she said, “Uh… I want to ask you something.”

“What is it?”

Murong Jiao looked at his calm face and said, “I want to open a stall. What should I do?”

“Ah…”

Scratching his head, he said, “Just find a good place to open it.”

Listening to his answer, she couldn’t help but widen her eyes. “Is it really okay? No need to report, no registration?”

Tilting his head, he frowned and tried to remember the rules, but he couldn’t remember anything about setting up a stall. He nodded at her and said, “Yes. You can open it anywhere. As long as you don’t cause trouble, no one cares what you do.”

She stared at him with her mouth open for a moment. She came back to her senses when she heard the stall owner behind her cough, reminding everyone not to block his business. Taking a few steps away from the stall, she quickly took out a glass of smoke ice cocktail from the ice box and stuffed it into his hand.

“Thank you for telling me!”

Leaving the glass of smoke ice cocktail in his hand, she turned around and disappeared from his sight. Shi Mu looked down at the small plastic glass in his hand as his little hands trembled. After a while, he raised his head and searched for Murong Jiao with an excited expression on his face.

Murong Jiao came to the north area of the plaza and walked to the street leading to the inner district of the base. When she was collecting information just now, she was also looking for the most suitable place for her to set up a stall. Since she wanted to sell her wares as luxury items, she had to target people who could afford her prices.

Putting the ice box on the side of the road, she pulled out the tarp she had prepared in advance and spread it on the ground. After that, she untied the small folding chair tied on the side of the ice box, opened it and sat down.

Opening the lid of the ice box, she pulled out one glass of smoky ice cocktail, a cup of silky milk pudding, one piece of blue cheese chicken salad sandwich, and a portion of cool and crunchy chicken salad. With the food on the tarp, she prepares a tray, surreptitiously fills it with ice cubes from her storehouse, and places the food on top of the ice. Closing the lid of the ice box, she placed the tray on top of the ice box and waited for her first customer.

If her information was correct, she could at least earn something tonight. Those who can live in the inner district either have a strong background, are powerful, or are rich. She wants her first customer to be a rich foodie.

While Murong Jiao was still patiently waiting for her first customer, Shi Mu was already dripping with sweat. He had been running around the night market for more than twenty minutes, but he still couldn’t find the young woman. Panting heavily, he looked regretfully at the smoke ice cocktail in his hand.

“Ay..”

Wiping off his sweat, he tore off the scotch tape on the glass cover. The moment the plastic cover is opened, the sweet cocktail aroma combined with the unique aroma of the wine hits his face. He saw the round ice cube the size of a baby’s hand floating in the ice-blue liquid, and couldn’t help swallowing.

Gulp!

Picking up the plastic glass and smelling it, another sweet scent hit his sense of smell. It smells like honey and malt. Without wasting any more time, Shi Mu took a sip, and the moment he swallowed the wine, he couldn’t help but let out a satisfied sigh.

“So delicious!”

Seeing that the glass was very small and there was not much cocktail left in it, he closed the lid and returned to his barracks. He will keep this and enjoy it slowly later.
